Go for Double monitors, SaraJo.. you won't be sorry.. Smiley I have a 24" and 20" widescreens and am terrible productive.

My recommendation for speakers:

Nice Bose ones.. The sound is incredible, but I never thought I'd rave about the VOLUME control:it's something really cool (you can see it in the bottom right hand corner of the picture).

There is a rubber ring on the outside which controls the volume, and the center is a touch-sensitive area for mute. Nothing to press: just touch it.

totally, I end up with double monitors because I develop on my laptop.

Those speakers look sweet  I will check them out.
If you're on a budget (or just want a pre-made set instead of the fuss involved in selecting an amp, speakers etc.), Logitech's pretty damn awesome. I've got the Z-5500 and I'm very pleased with it (only the sub is rediculously overpowered, but that's a common theme with home theatre sets it seems...)
Bose?! BOSE!?

No no.

Being the audiophile that I am, I think it'd be better if you hand picked your components.

May I recommend some Diamond 8's + a Kenwood amplifier, or perhaps some Wharfedale S500s...

Course, you could go bigger.. I've got a 22 part system Smiley

I mainly use my 2x s500's + 2x Triumph-Marantz, +2x Wharfedale Delta 30's as my bass Smiley

You could always go HARDCORE!

edit: added links and fixed typo... Diamond 9's lol

Can't you tweak it?

I really wish Logitech would update that set so that it'd have multiple HDMI inputs and an HDMI output. It's the only thing stopping me from getting one for my TV.

Yeah, but it's still pointless.

I got this in my office, who can top that?

I have two of these plus a big sub wired to my home office PC at the moment, about 1KW RMS in total.  Leftovers from a house party last year.  Not really recommended as the SNR on the amps are pretty poor at low volumes, but there is an easy answer to that Smiley

I know it's mundane, but one of my fave home-office devices is:

I leave all my USB peripherals plugged into it, and it, in-turn, is plugged into the wireless router. I go home, switch on the laptop and... everything is just connected.

can you program it to "project" code? that would be awesome Tongue Out

imagine a big office with 10 of these where you go and relax, you look at code and think how to improve it Big Smile
In my office (which is my work place too because I own the company) we have some nice stuff:

One of these:

And this sound system:

Plus some nice KEF speakers for the main area ... havent fitted the kitchen / pool room with audio stuff yet ...
I want a mac pro and a 24" monitor for it, and my office is complete. Maybe a larger desk would be nice too though.

Don't forget to paint your walls something with a bit of colour. Just did our office with tax refund. Ripped out 2 counters on 2 of the walls(those office counters), since they were covered in useless stuff and taking up 30+ square feet of space. Redid the wiring, since they had power outlets that had wires coming out of the wall....under the counter, and into the wall, and into the outlet...instead of taking drywall out and poking holes through the studs and wiring that way...lazy. We cleaned up the wiring, re-drywalled the parts we took out. And painted a colour I think was called Moroccan Desert. A nice orange, which seems like much, but it goes quite well.

Again....find a nice colour for your walls. Not an off white or a light blue...find something with some oomph to it.
