A way to open windows explorer with a shortcut and just type in the path I want.

????????

I'm sure this already exists.

I'm not sure this is what you want, but on the command line

EXPLORER /E,"C:\Users\Me\My Documents"

You could make a shortcut out of that...
Or a shortcut to open Windows Explorer is:
Windows Key + E
Or if you were thinking about keyboard shortcut - WindowsKey + E Smiley

we are halfway there, now I just need a shortcut to get me to the address bar.

Window Key + E to open explorer:

Ctrl + Shift + Tab to get you to address field (or Ctrl + Tab two times?)
What you need is Win+E, Alt+D.
On Vista, hit the Windows key and start typing. It'll open Explorer after you've entered the path.
Window+R will open a run dialog. Type in the path and press enter.

reason #8 to switch.

doing this in the next few weeks.

just press win+R for the run dialog, type your path and press enter. if you enable autocomplete in IE settings it becomes much easier

Back in Windows 95, you could list ? as the only argument of a shortcut and Windows would prompt you for the arguments (which would let you create a shorcut that would prompt you for the path).  Unfortunately, it looks like this feature no longer exists in XP (I don't know if it ever was in Explorer in NT).
In other words: there's a number of ways to get what you want:

Windows Key + E then Ctrl + Shift + Tab
Windows Key + E then Alt + D
Windows Key + E then F4
Windows Key + R
(Vista only shortcut) Windows Key

isn't that just like us computer type people, to have several different ways to get the same outcome? I vote for my suggestion as it's the most elaborate and no secondary effect Wink.

So take you pick, maybe we can find a few more variations to this... We're up to 4 or 5 already

Haha.  Read what she wanted to do and then thought, "what way would make the most sense?" and then tried that method.

I don't get it when people say that Vista is complicated.

In the meantime you might want to look at Launchy
what if you don't have a windows key?

Ctrl+Esc opens the start menu, from which you can press R to open the run dialog or (on Vista) type the path.
The following works for me (as the command in a shortcut)

C:\Windows\explorer.exe "J:\Users\Public"

The following will open at the root directory:

c:....exe  "J:

Note that the quotes aren't closed....guess it autocompletes Smiley
I thought you were going to say 'world peace' ....

I want... my internet back. It's off at home, so I'm posting from school, and I'm tweeting from my phone and trying my very best not to get withdrawal symptoms...

Webs off because once again I went over my 40GB cap Sad

That's a drag, big time.
Who imposes this cap and when does it reset?

I want...

... Nothing, but a good time!
Yesterday I wanted to get that crazy famine skull in Halo 3 using a  plasma grenade to jump...

Today I just want to get home and work on one of my pet programming projects...
Today I want to be outside because the weather's reasonable and I don't have a window at my desk.

or a cheezburger ...
