All,

Can anyone recommend a good book holder for my desk? I have 600 page .NET book open while I am trying to do some programming and it is a bit uncomfortable on my lap. It would be nice to have a holder next to my monitor that I can use to prop up the book and keep the pages open.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Lift weights, go heavy, toughen the F up.

Because I felt you wasted keystrokes starting this thread.

Do Ikea have a forum?

Sorry to you offend you, hope the quest for comfort is realised.

Stop right there. A 600 page .net book? Something's not right.

Whilst there are plenty of book holders, none seem right to hold a 2" thick book open. If I were in your place I'd go hunt around for an eBook or PDF version of the tome and just have it open on a secondary display. Have you tried that option?
Buy a bookstand or book holder on Amazon. Or get an electronic copy and put it in full-screen mode on a second monitor.  (Darn, w3bbo beat me to it.)

We're information workers in the IT/Computer Science industry. Why are we still using paper? Smiley

Sorry, my post was not meant to be condescending.  I simply prefer on-screen PDF's over propped up 600+ page books.

If you're deadset on paper books, I would recommend heading down to your local bookstore and asking them for recommendations.

I recognize this is not what you asked for but, I am VERY happy with my O'Reilly Safari Library subscription. Kind'a pricey and I must confess it's not been easy to wean myself off the old hard-backs. The fire that destroyed my library, ~20 year collection, helped :-/

In my hard-back days, I never used a book holder. Just got accustom to positioning the book to the right were I could glance over and down at it - sometimes propping it open with another book.

Good luck!!
