It has been a hell of a week. Lots of work on our end to get V4 of 9 stabilized in production and lots of patience on your end while we fixed things that were broken.

Thank you for bearing with us as we made this deployment and for being so patient we deployed V4 first to all the other communities. We still things to fix and clean up, but we believe we're on a steady path of improvement.If you see something you want improved, have suggestion on how to change the UI text or find a bug, please report it on the Wiki.

The great news, is that with this week behind us and V4 now running on all of our sites, we can evolve so much more rapidly. You'll once again see constant improvements on 9, that the early Niners saw..

Thanks everyone again, you are why we do what we do.

Ray Ozzie we have an architectural overview of Mesh and over on Channel 10 we have a hands on demo with Nic.

Lots more content to come over the next few days like a Going Deep on Mesh with Charles.

On a thread the other day someone asked for more content like the .NET Show. The Ray Ozzie interview was filmed in our new studio. We hope use it for much more content soon and Robert Hess will be one of the personalities to definitely put it throught its paces.

My first Channel 9 Interview [My first Channel 9 Interview]

Rory grabbed the camera last week and turned it around on me. Actually my first interview on this site. (I'm a shy behind the scenes kinda guy)

There are a couple of shout outs to folks in the coffeehouse, some answers to questions I saw here over the summer and some thank you's.

Rory, in one of his final interviews for Channel 9 turned around the camera and interviewed me (Jeff :-)) for Channel 9.

Here's the description Rory wrote for this piece:

Jeff Sandquist was there at the beginning. He has been behind the scenes at Channel 9 for years. He was part of the initial crew and has had a tremendous impact on the development of the site ever since. Oddly, despite his core involvement, Jeff has never before done a Channel 9 interview. Matt Winkler and David Tesar catch up with Shawn Burke to talk about the announcement today that the source for the .NET Framework will be made available.

In this video we find out about how this is all going to work and see it in action as Shawn steps into the Windows Forms code from Visual Studio. Shawn also talks about how this has been something he has been working on for a long time in order to bring a really deep debugging experience for .NET developers.

Lots of excitement about this today for sure.

There's only one team for me at Microsoft and that of course is Developer & Platform Evangelism. It is called DPE inside Microsoft. Within DPE lives my group that creates both technology and the content that drives Channels 8, 10.

As a team we're on a mission to change how Microsoft does Evangelism and that is through the combination of social media and online community. We have a bunch of openings on our team. First there is an opening for a Channel 9 Evangelist that will report directly to me.

Software Design Engineer

The Developer and Platform Evangelism Team is hiring a software design engineer to join the team that builds and extends Channel 9, Channel 10 and more. Our sites build a two way interaction between our customers and Microsoft using video as the primary communication tool. In the past several years we have built several additional sites and our network has grown in both traffic and content, and as a result we are looking for an additional Software Design Engineer to join the team. We are looking for someone who lives and breathes HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX and ASP.NET. The ideal candidate will have skills in all those technologies combined with a passion for design and user experience.

Channel 10 - Technical Evangelist

Channel 10 is looking for a technology leader to be our newest on-air host. You should be an enterprising, professional host who is comfortable on camera and passionate about technology. You should be the type of person who consumes a tremendous amount of tech news. You should know the difference between 3G and 2.5G, Xbox 360 games and Live Arcade, UMPCs and MicroPCs.

You'll need to be able to keep a secret, because you'll see things you can't talk about. You'll need a passport because we might need to drop you just about anywhere. This is the job of a lifetime, to become part of the public face of Microsoft, speaking to millions of technology enthusiasts Worldwide, and shining a light on people who build Microsoft products and services and the people who use those in innovative ways.

This week we will make another leap forward with a beta release of Channel 9. We call this Version 4.0 of Channel 9 and it is a complete rewrite of our infrastructure, moving us to a common code base for everything my team creates. This same code runs Channel 10, Mix Online and is being used for our upcoming student community.    The ability to ship this beta is directly related to our adoption of scrum.
The first release (that will run simultaneously with the Pablo Castro one of the folks behind Astoria. Astoria exposes "data services" that enable applications to access and manipulate data over regular HTTP connections, using URIs to identify pieces of information within the data service, and simple payload formats such as XML and JSON to represent the data exchanged between the client and the server.

After 24 hours it was close, but a narrow majority voted Fred onto the island of MIX.

We’re going to find a way to get him into the building. Some thought he should dress up as Elvis and others felt he should be a special Channel 9 correspondent to attend. Fred, we can iron out those details at the event...

See you in Vegas and don't forget to drop by wrote about Channel 9, was a little slow registering for MIX. The event is completely sold out and there is a waiting list. Normally, we reserve some slots for reporters but this late in the game we have no more press slots. Fred has asked if we can find a way to get him into MIX. Wired is big on Radical Transparency so we thought we’d give it a try and let the community decide. Should we let Fred in? Is there anything Fred could do for the Channel 9 community? Please reply to this thread with your suggestions – remember MIX is in Las Vegas.
